The time has come to start testing the Reality 1.6 beta. Please reach out to me by email or PM if you are interested in an early access license key. The retail price for Reality is going to be $200 after the beta ends. You can participate in the beta by paying $200 now or a deposit of $50. If you pay in full now then you own a license for version 1.6 with all updates until the next major release. Otherwise, I will ask for another $50 to download Beta 2, and so on, until you have paid $200 in full. I am planning on at least 4 Betas.
Reporting Issues
If you find an issue, please email me with all the information you have about it. Don’t worry about reporting something that is already known. I would rather you report something known, than not report something unknown. Know what I am saying? I cannot stress enough the importance of giving me as much information as you can about the issue. If I can’t reproduce it, I can’t fix it. If I have to keep asking for information, then there is less time I can spend on making Reality better. You get the idea.
Known Issues and Workarounds
Sometimes when Reality boots up you will get a pop-up message saying that there was not enough memory to load the bank. This is intermittent. If you keep trying to start up Reality, it should be able to load after couple tries.
Reality comes with some banks to load. You can find them in C:\Program Files (x86)\Seer\Reality\Banksets. After you have tracked them down one time, you won’t have to keep doing it. It will remember.
You can’t use the play button right now, sorry. It will crash. There is no midi playback function yet, but it will exist by the end of the beta period. If you want to play midi files, you need to load them up in a sequencer.
Also, you will need a loopback midi driver in order to sequence with Reality. I recommend installing this one, because it supports 64-bit apps and lets you name the midi ports. You can name the port “reality”.
In order to get perfect audio, an ASIO driver works the best. If your audio hardware doesn’t support ASIO, then you need to download ASIO4ALL. You can get that here.
After installing the above, you may want to download a sequencer if you don’t have one. Your sequencer needs to support midi output. I recommend Cakewalk by Bandlab. It is free and works very well with Reality. First make an account here. Then download Bandlab Assistant from here. If you choose the Apps tab you’ll have the option to install Cakewalk. I will make a demo video showing you how to this, in case you are having problems.
Good luck with Reality. Make some great music!
